The first request

Hanna

Welcome, newcomer. Your first request has just come in. Someone wants a notice written for the village autumn festival. It will go up on the notice board.

You

A notice? If I hand that to Ari it will be done in no time.

Hanna

Plenty of newcomers think so. Give it a try. Here is the request sheet. Saturday, October 18, 2 p.m., in the village square. There is a treasure hunt for the children and a lantern parade at 6 in the evening, and if it rains everything moves to the village hall.

Summary

What this request teaches

Why does telling an AI just "write a notice" produce an answer you cannot use? Solve a request for a village festival notice and learn to ask with a purpose, context, format, and conditions.

Show the key points (best read after finishing the request)
  • An AI does not know what you did not tell it, and it fills the gaps with the most common content.
  • A request carries four things: purpose (what it is for), context (the facts that must go in), format (length · tone · shape), and conditions (the reader · what to keep).
  • When you do not like the result, say what to change and what to keep, not "again".
  • You do not have to write a perfect request in one go. Fix it as the conversation continues.

Try it yourself

Paste the template below into the AI you actually use and replace the brackets with your own situation.

Write [what].
- Purpose: [where it will be used and why]
- Must include: [fact 1], [fact 2], [fact 3]
- Reader: [who]
- Format: [length], [tone]
